Film festival seeks entries [Africa]

Filmmakers from Africa can participate in a festival in Luxor, Egypt.

Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) showcases long and short films shot in the previous year and produced in 2013.

There are two competitions -- for long films (narrative and documentaries) and short films (narrative and documentaries).

Three cash prizes will be awarded in each category, in addition to the audience prize for animation film, the Al-Husseiny Abo Deif competition for a film about freedom, and a special award dedicated for best film addressing African issues.

Entries must be an African production, shot by an African director with a plot in Africa, or related to Africa. Participating films should not have been screened in Egyptian cinemas.

Interested filmmakers must send their application forms and two DVD copies of the film along with promotional material (posters, flyers, stills, and synopsis).

The deadline is Dec. 15.
