There are many women who have made a difference in our lives, women who have against all odds raised families, brought change in communities and our nations. We often do not recognise the sacrifices that they have made, at times giving us opportunities that they did not have.
In August 2012, Gender Links is offering you the opportunity and space to write a story to celebrate the phenomenal woman in your life. This woman could be your daughter, your sister, your mother, your mother- in-law, your aunt, a female colleague or a friend who has touched your life or that of your family in a special way.
The stories will be featured on the Gender Links Opinion and Commentary Service during the month of August. They will be available on the GL website, distributed to the GL list serve that has over 11000 contacts and will be sent to media houses in Southern Africa and online media for republishing.
Please ensure that you submit images of the woman being celebrated to go with the story. Stories should be 800 – 1000 words in length. To get your story commissioned and more details on this series, write to editor@genderlinks.org.za. Annex A has some quick editorial guidelines to refer to.
