Developers, technologists, engineers or programmers interested in journalism can apply for a US$60,000 yearlong fellowship.
The Knight-Mozilla OpenNews Fellowship seeks to place fellows in
newsrooms worldwide to spend a year writing code in collaboration with
reporters, designers, and newsroom developers.
Eight newsrooms will be hosting this year's fellows. The New York Times, ProPublica, Spiegel Online and La Nacion are joining this year's project, along with some of last year's partners - the BBC, the Guardian, Zeit Online and the Boston Globe.
Along with the stipend paid over ten months, the fellowship provides
supplements for housing, childcare, health insurance, moving expenses
and helps pay for research/equipment and books.
