Journalists in East Africa can submit investigative work to be presented at a conference.
The Forum for African Investigative Reporters (FAIR) is seeking case studies for its regional investigative journalism conference, which will take place September 17-19 in Nairobi, Kenya.
The theme of the conference, “War on Terror in East Africa: Security, Elections and Transparency,” has been chosen to highlight the fact that increased security measures, secrecy and militarization are challenges for investigative reporters. The conference will enable participants to debate these challenges, and discuss possible ways to overcome them. This is especially urgent in Kenya, which is preparing for elections early next year.
FAIR is hosting the conference in partnership with Open Society Institute East Africa (OSIEA), Kenya Media Programme (KMP), Tanzania Media Fund (TMF) and Great Lakes Media Institute.
The deadline for Rwandan journalists is August 30, and the deadline for applicants outside of Rwanda is September 5.
